East of a New Eden
The “East of a
New Eden” series, realized in the years 2001 – 2002 by
Yann Mingard and Alban Kakulya, is a systematic analysis of what in
2004 was to be the East of the European Union and what never became
part of that political space. This documentary series deals with the
subject of division, borders and arbitrary geopolitical decisions.
It consists of 3 parts: „Infrastructures”, „Paysages”
(Landscapes), „Réfugiés” (Refugees). The
project won the FNAC award in photography in 2003.
Yann Mingard and Alban Kakulya are Swiss photographers representing
the young generation. Members of the Strates foundation in the years
2001-2005. Worked together with the East of a New Eden project ; following
their individual paths of career ever since.
